I’m Ben Hawes—a musical comedian, creative entrepreneur, and host of the Life in Bold podcast. I’ve spent my life chasing the things that light me up and finding ways to turn big dreams into reality, and I’m here to inspire others to do the same.

I’ve always been multi-passionate, from my early days making comedy sketches and music videos in high school to launching a photo booth business, a one-man musical, and countless creative projects here in New York City. Today, I blend humor, heart, and hustle into everything I do—whether it’s performing musical comedy, helping others bring their creative ideas to life, or reflecting on the journey through my podcast.

My Story

I grew up in a small town in the East Bay in CA where I was the Student Body President, besties with the cheerleaders, running a daily YouTube comedy show, and also… unsure of how to deal with a big secret of mine. Humor became my escape, my shield, and eventually, my superpower. As a kid, I dreamed of being an artist, a country music superstar, and a clown (yes, all at once). That spark stayed with me, and in college, I wrote and performed my first one-man show, Bi Polar! The Musical, about my experiences navigating mental health and self-discovery.

After moving to NYC, I threw myself into every creative endeavor I could dream up. While working at some really cool NYC Startup companies, I’ve produced sold-out shows, grown a photo booth business from the ground up, and built a podcast dedicated to helping others find their boldness. Through it all, I’ve learned this: the magic happens when you embrace your uniqueness and let it shine.

What I Do

• Musical Comedy: Through hilarious and heartfelt songs, I turn life’s awkward moments into laugh-out-loud performances. My shows dive into themes like growing up queer, navigating adulthood, and finding humor in life’s messiness.

• Podcasting: On the Life in Bold podcast, I share bold conversations about creativity, authenticity, and pursuing your passions, with plenty of inspiration to take action on your own dreams.

• Photo Booth Business: My NYC-based photo booth company, Rent My Booth, brings fun and connection to events like weddings, parties, and corporate gatherings.

• Creative Projects: Children’s books, websites, songs, videos, you name it— I work on launching creative projects all the time. I’m excited about any time I can help others launch their creative ideas as well.
